🏛️ CLARITY ACT VOTE PUSHED TO SEPTEMBER AS SENATE HEADS FOR RECESS
The Senate vote on the CLARITY Act has officially been pushed back to September after Senate Democrats refused to bring the bill to the floor before Congress goes on its August recess.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed that lawmakers will revisit the digital asset framework right after they return next month. But who knows what’ll happen?
1/ Why the CLARITY Act Hit a Wall 🧱
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R. 3633) is designed to draw a clear line between SEC and CFTC oversight for crypto. But to pass the Senate, it needs 60 votes to overcome procedural hurdles.
Republican leaders needed all 100 senators to agree on the schedule before heading out for August recess.
Democrats said no. They insisted that key crypto negotiations still need work before any vote happens.
Majority Leader Thune made it clear that the opposing side stood firm, saying: "The Democrats refused to allow a vote on the CLARITY Act. We will prioritize bringing it to the floor right when we return in September."
Thune can still file a procedural motion (cloture) to force a vote, but for now, the bill is waiting for lawmakers to get back next month.

2/ Trump Family Crypto Projects ⚖️
The biggest roadblock here is ethics rules. Democrats want much stricter rules preventing government officials and politicians from holding or profiting from digital asset businesses.
Crypto ventures connected to the Trump family are right in the center of this debate. A new bipartisan proposal would force government officials to sell off their crypto holdings if their stake exceeds $1M and represents 10% or more of a crypto company.
→ Seven Democratic senators rejected an earlier draft in July because ethics safeguards were too weak for them.
3/ Prediction Markets Tank (But Don't Panic Yet) 📊
The delay immediately chilled market expectations:
Odds on Polymarket for the CLARITY Act passing in 2026 crashed down to 14% (with over $5.16 million traded). That’s a huge drop from over 70% back in early May.
A similar thing happened with the GENIUS Act. It got blocked on its initial procedural vote before finally passing a few weeks later.
👉 Remember, this doesn't mean the bill is dead. If both sides lock in an ethics compromise over the break, the Senate can move quickly when they come back. Keep your eyes on D.C. in September!

🚨 BITCOIN NETWORK ALERT: NEARLY 5,000 CODE BUGS IN 30-HOUR AUDIT FOUND!
A group calling itself the Bitcoin Red Team scanned 391 Bitcoin-related code projects over 30 hours, and found 4,962 security bugs across 390 of them. Out of all 391 code repositories checked, only one single project was totally clean.
1/ 1 in 7 Bugs is Heavy 📊
Not all bugs are equal, but a solid chunk of what the team found poses a serious risk:
The team flagged 85 "very critical" and 635 "critical" vulnerabilities. That means roughly 14.5% (about 1 in 7) of all findings are severe.
The rest were medium, low, or informational, along with 246 bugs that haven't been categorized yet.

Around 21.4% came with working code showing how the bug operates. Almost 91% were found using automated tools, with only 8 false alarms thrown out.
So far, 147 of the critical bugs have been sent directly to project maintainers to be patched.
During the first hour alone, 4,101 bugs were dumped. Stripping that out, the team logged about 840 new bugs over the remaining 29 hours (about 29 new bugs per hour).
2/ Which Projects Are Safest? 🛡️
Hardware wallets and firmware (including Coldcard) had the second-lowest rate of severe bugs at 9.6%.
Mining pools (21.7% severe), infrastructure tools (21.5%), and crypto exchanges/swaps (20.9%) had much higher severe bug rates.
Privacy-focused tools topped the list with a 24% severe bug rate (though only 3 projects were tested here).
Coding libraries held the biggest raw pile of bugs: 1,385 flaws across 128 projects (over a quarter of all findings).

According to open-source developer Calle (creator of the Cashu protocol), project owners are actively reviewing the reports, confirming many of the worst bugs right away.
3/ What Happened & Market Impact 💰
This whole Red Team effort was triggered by a major hardware wallet bug. Coinkite revealed that the seed generation feature on certain Coldcard devices accidentally defaulted to a predictable software process.
Instead of full randomness, it only used 32 bits of security from the secure element. Hackers only needed 4.3B attempts to guess a wallet's private seed phrase.
To help fix these issues before hackers exploit them, non-profit organization OpenSats launched the Code RED grant program. It offers cash bounties to security researchers who find and report bugs, and even reimburses AI costs used during research.
→ BTC traded steady though, completely unbothered by the news. Remember, these findings are raw code bugs and the huge majority will never actually be exploited in the real world.
