GLOBAL MARKETS ARE SELLING OFF HARD!

  • US Stocks: $500 billion wiped out overnight.

  • South Korea: KOSPI plunged 5%.

  • Japan: Nikkei dropped 3%.

  • Precious Metals: Gold and silver also took a major hit.

One possible trigger is growing concern over Fed policy, as officials including Patrick T. Harker and Beth M. Hammack have reportedly signaled support for another rate hike in December.

Token buybacks can send crypto prices soaring, even when the project itself isn’t growing. Sounds like a win for investors, right? But there’s a hidden trade-off that could hurt a project’s long-term future.

Some protocols are spending millions to push token prices higher instead of building products that attract real users. So who actually benefits: the project or the people trading its token? 👇

🛢️ IRAN IS PUSHING OIL PRICES UP BEFORE US MIDTERMS: CAN TRUMP STOP $100 OIL?

Iran is deliberately bumping up ship attacks in the Strait of Hormuz to keep oil prices high just weeks before the U.S. midterm elections. U.S. WTI Crude is trading near $95, only about 5.7% away from the big $100 milestone.

1/ Why Hormuz Attacks Are Driving Up Oil Prices?

Iranian officials openly admitted to Reuters that their goal is simple: whenever oil prices start dropping, they trigger new disruptions to push prices back up.

Drone strikes and attacks hit at least 5 commercial ships in just 48 hours. Tehran is expanding operations into the Gulf of Oman, with recent incidents popping up near Qatar and the UAE.

These attacks hike up insurance costs and slow down shipping routes. JPMorgan reports the region needs 35 additional supertankers compared to 2025 to keep up.

As you know, Hormuz usually handles about 1/5th of the world’s oil and LNG. Iran is using this leverage directly to squeeze the U.S. economy before the vote.

2/ Where Oil Stands Right Now

Even with the recent chaos, the price charts show a mixed picture:

  • WTI Crude: Trading around $95, needing a 5.7% push to hit $100. Despite recent pops, WTI is actually down 10.5% over the past month.

  • Brent Crude: Already trading higher at around $106.

  • U.S. Stance: U.S. military officials note that Iran hasn't actually stopped overall oil exports from growing, even with the attacks.

3/ Can Trump Bring Prices Down Before November 3?

The U.S. Midterm election on November 3 will decide who controls Congress, and high fuel prices are top-of-mind for voters. A Fox News/AP poll showed 61% of voters call gas prices a major problem for their family (up from 48% two years ago).

can-trump-bring-prices-down

Here are Trump’s current options and moves:

  • Trump ruled out new direct military strikes on Iran before election day.

  • The U.S. is keeping a naval blockade on Iranian ports while tightening economic sanctions.

  • G7 leaders agreed to release 100 million barrels from emergency reserves. This pushed WTI down near $90 on October 5, though it has climbed back to $95 since.

Actually, Trump claimed on October 5 that the Hormuz situation isn't the main driver of U.S. gas prices anymore.

🧠 My Analysis

Iran knows high gas prices annoy voters fast. By keeping energy prices high right before November 3, Tehran is using oil as economic leverage.

Trump is trying to lower prices using emergency reserves and sanctions. But with $WTI ( ▲ 2.13% ) sitting at $95, whether oil breaks $100 or pulls back will depend heavily on if those reserve releases can offset Hormuz shipping delays.

🚨 POLYMARKET HINTS AT TOKEN LAUNCH AGAIN: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Polymarket is back to dropping hints about its own token.

According to Bloomberg, the platform is weighing traditional fundraising paths, including a potential initial public offering (IPO), or launching its own native on-chain digital asset.

1/ The Token & AirDrop Tease

At the TOKEN2049 event in Singapore on October 7, 2026, Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan dropped a hint. He revealed that the team is actively developing an on-chain asset with programmable utility tied directly to the platform's ecosystem.

Coplan didn't drop the official token name, launch date, or exact tokenomics mechanics just yet. This re-ignited hype for the long-awaited POLY token.

Back in October 2025, Marketing Director Matthew Modabber confirmed plans for a token and an airdrop, though the immediate focus was getting U.S. operations back up and running.

Back in February 2026, Polymarket's parent company, Blockratize Inc., officially filed trademark applications for "POLY" and "$POLY" in the U.S., covering financial trading software, tokens, and electronic trading platforms.

As of October 14, 2026, Polymarket has not made an official announcement regarding a Token Generation Event (TGE) or airdrop snapshot.

2/ Skyrocketing to a $21 Billion Valuation

While the crypto community waits for a token, Polymarket has been quietly pulling in massive funding from Wall Street and TradFi heavyweights:

  • October 2025: Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) (the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)) invested $2 billion, pushing Polymarket’s valuation to $9 billion.

  • April 2026: Valuation hit $15 billion.

  • August 2026: Venture firm 1789 Capital led a $1 billion funding round at a $21 billion valuation (contributing around $300 million). Notably, Donald Trump Jr., partner at 1789 Capital, serves as an advisor to Polymarket.

Reports indicate Polymarket’s annualized run-rate revenue has now passed $1 billion, solidifying its position as the undisputed giant of prediction markets and giving it plenty of cash to consider an IPO or token launch.

3/ Re-Building the U.S. Business & Institutional Battles

Polymarket has been aggressively laying down legal infrastructure to expand inside the U.S. following past regulatory hurdles.

In 2025, Polymarket paid $112 million to acquire QCX LLC and QC Clearing LLC, laying the foundation for Polymarket US.

According to Reuters, JPMorgan Chase asked Polymarket to move its banking accounts in 2025 over legal and regulatory concerns. However, commercial ties didn't break down entirely, JPMorgan is in line to help underwrite Polymarket's potential IPO.

4/ Tech Upgrade: Protocol V2

On the product side, Polymarket is rolling out a major infrastructure overhaul called Protocol V2. It uses single ERC-1155 smart contracts to manage user positions, integrates pUSD as primary collateral, and adds advanced trade routing.

It’s built to support diverse prediction markets and scale seamlessly across multiple blockchains.

V2 testing runs through October 30, 2026, with new markets migrating to the new setup starting November 2, 2026. Codebases have been fully audited by Cantina, Certora, and Quantstamp.
