📉 BTC WIPES OUT POST-ELECTION GAINS IN $3 TRILLION TECH SELL-OFF (PART 1)

If you were enjoying the post-election crypto rally, hold on tight. $BTC ( ▼ 6.18% ) just dropped back to $75,000, completely wiping out its recent gains after a wave of panic selling hit the US stock market and erased nearly $3 trillion in market value in a single day.

1/ Wall Street Loses $3 Trillion: The Historic Dump

On November 5, 2026, US stock markets suffered an intense sell-off centered around tech and AI companies.

The market wiped out $3 trillion in single-day market cap. This is the second-biggest one-day loss in US stock market history, behind only the $3.5 trillion lost during the March 2020 COVID panic.

Dow Jones and S&P 500 both dropped around 3%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 4.7%, its worst single day since the April 2025 tariff sell-off.

Tech giants hit:

  • AMD fell -15.72%

  • Tesla lost -10.94%

  • Broadcom plummeted -9.45%

  • NVIDIA fell -8.94%

  • Microsoft dropped -3.92% and Meta dropped -4.1%

  • Semiconductor stocks overall fell -10.4%.

By the morning of November 6, panic spread to Asian markets. Japan and South Korea lost hundreds of billions in value, and South Korea’s market even had to trigger circuit breakers to stop the panic selling.

2/ Crypto Bloodbath: $1.24 Billion Liquidation Wave

When big traditional tech stocks fall, investors pull money out of all high-risk assets, including crypto 😥

  • Bitcoin (BTC): Fell over 5.6% down to $76,200, hitting a low of $75,300, the lowest level seen since mid-September.

  • Altcoins: Ethereum ($ETH ( ▼ 7.94% )) dropped over 7% down to $2,247, while Solana ($SOL ( ▼ 7.28% )) fell 5.8% to around $90.

According to CoinGlass, over $1.24 billion in leveraged trading positions were wiped out in 24 hours, hitting over 239,000 traders.

During the main 4-hour crash window, $879.92 million was liquidated. Out of that, $818.9 million came from long positions (people betting prices would go up), while short positions only made up $61.02 million.

This drop happened just 24 hours after a huge rally on November 4 following the US midterm elections (where Bitcoin briefly touched $81,000 and the S&P 500 added $1.2 trillion). All of those gains are now completely gone.

3/ Real Reasons Behind the Market Panic

Why did the markets suddenly turn so ugly? 3 main drivers caused this sharp drop:

First, AI ROI doubts & huge spending: Big tech companies (Meta, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon) spent a combined $201.9 billion on CapEx like AI data centers and chips in Q3 2026.

→ However, their combined Free Cash Flow dropped to negative $26.4 billion. Investors are worried companies are spending huge money without making enough profit back yet.

Second, US Democratic Representative Yassamin Ansari proposed a pause on advanced AI development, tighter industry regulations, and a ban on super-intelligent AI right after the midterms. Her post got over 15M views on X in 48 hours.

Last, investors took on high risk recently, pouring $15 billion into leveraged ETFs in October alone. When prices started falling, forced margin calls triggered automatic selling, making the crash much worse.

→ Wall Street's "fear index" (VIX) spiked 63% in one day, it’s also one of the top 5 single-day jumps ever recorded.

Elon Musk. Jensen Huang. Washington. What’s the Connection?

AI is moving into the physical economy.

Elon is building it. Jensen sees it in Agriculture. Washington is backing it. And DIT AgTech is already putting it to work in livestock.

Most investors haven’t connected the dots yet.

At $1 a share, you still can.

📉 BTC WIPES OUT ALL GAINS (PART 2: POLITICAL BACKLASH & NEXT PRICE TARGETS)

The market is showing us that crypto isn't trading in a vacuum. When massive AI stock valuations get questioned and traders are over-leveraged, liquidations spread fast across all risk assets.

4/ Political Responses & Economic Realities

The sudden crash immediately became a political debate point and raised wider economic concerns:

Donald Trump posted on Truth Social criticizing the Democratic party, blaming the midterm election results for destroying stock values and hurting citizens' 401(k) retirement funds. He called it one of the worst days in stock market history but insisted the US economy would rebuild strongly.

OTC Trader Jasper De Maere from Wintermute noted that short-term positive signs aren't enough to hide real economic risks.

US inflation remains high even with steady growth, and ongoing Middle East tensions continue to keep global investors cautious about riskier assets.

5/ Legal Pressure & What’s Next for Bitcoin

Crypto is now facing both price pressure and political regulatory hurdles moving into late 2026.

Wintermute pointed out that the earlier crypto bounce was driven by relief over the Binance hack not causing wider damage, post-election optimism, and lower oil price expectations. That temporary optimism was quickly overwhelmed by the macro tech sell-off.

With Democrats taking control of both the House and Senate following the November 3 midterms, crypto-friendly bills like the CLARITY Act will now require bipartisan agreement to pass. Without compromise, crypto regulatory progress could stay stuck until the next election cycle.

Global Settlement Network CEO Ryan Kirkley feels macro factors, like real money flow, interest rates, and the broader economy, will always matter more to institutional investors than which political party holds power in Congress.

Key Bitcoin price levels:

  • Support levels to watch (if BTC drops further): $73,000 and $68,000.

  • Recovery level to reclaim: Bitcoin needs to get back above $80,000 to rebuild upward momentum.

Historically, Bitcoin tends to form a local market bottom after US midterm elections, giving patient investors a reason to stay calm despite the temporary volatility.

🧠 Summary Insight: Watch the $73k–$68k support zone closely for Bitcoin while the market digests this historic tech shakeout.
